BMW K-Series description

This K1200s is in excellent condition.  Always garaged, never dropped, never abused, never tracked.  I bought it from the original owner in 2012 and he had put 8500 miles on it.

The K1200S has a forkless front suspension known as Duolever.  Very smooth over expansion joints on the interstate.  The engine is a transverse four making 167 HP.

I have been riding 38 years and this the best bike I have owned, ever.  I have had five other BMWs in the last 30 years, including an airhead R65, an R1100S, an R1150RT, a F800St, and a S1000RR; the K1200S is my favorite. The bike is very fast, very smooth, has great ABS brakes, and can carry all your stuff for touring.

Accessories included:  BMW saddlebags, BMW tank bag, Garmin Zumo 550 with XM antenna, Touratech GPS lockable mount, two additional power sockets, Remus muffler, blinking LED brake lights, and bike cover.  All recalls and service have been done, including the cam chain guide. A new fuel strip was installed in May under warranty, and that repair will be under warranty until May, 2018.  Oil is fresh, tires are good. Bike is pictured with stock exhaust; Remus is now on the bike and looks much better than stock.  Stock muffler included.

This bike is ready to go anywhere.  Looks great, sound great, rides great.  I'm selling because I am no longer riding.

Von Kuenheim: BMW Must Start Winning in WSBK Before Entering MotoGP

Fri, 16 Mar 2012

MotoGP racing may be the next logical step for BMW, says Hendrik von Kuenheim, general director of BMW Motorrad. Von Kuenheim was speaking at a press launch for the BMW C600 Sport and C650GT scooters but took a moment to discuss racing with MotoGP.com. Such speculation about BMW entering Grand Prix racing may sometimes be dismissed as idle musings, but the fact the interview was with MotoGP’s official website holds some significance.

Ohlins Issues Recall Notice For BMW S1000RR And R1200R Steering Dampers

Thu, 15 Aug 2013

Ohlins is issuing a recall notice for select aftermarket steering dampers for the BMW S1000RR and R1200R. The company believes the bracket holding the damper in place to be improperly machined, and a probable material defect in the aluminum alloy could cause stress fractures. Ohlins states that although “there is no risk for losing control during normal riding,” there is a risk the bracket will fail during slow-speed maneuvers, where the bars are turned at maximum steering angle.

BMW S1000RR: new speed record

Sun, 19 Aug 2018

The achievement was chalked up to the fearless Erin Sills of the Hunter Sills Racing team. 242 mph (389 km/h)! This is the maximum speed shown by the jet lady on the salt lake in Bolivia.
