BMW F 650GS description

In 2009, BMW introduced their twin-cylinder F-series models. The F650GS is powered by a 798cc parallel two-cylinder engine that produces 71 bhp and 55 ft-lbs of torque. A chain drive and six-speed gearbox is used to transfer power to the 17-inch cast aluminum rear wheel. Front suspension is provided by 41 mm telescopic forks. The cast aluminum dual rear swingarm and a central spring strut provide rear suspension, featuring adjustable spring pre-load and adjustable rebound damping. Single disc front and rear brakes are controlled by the optional BMW Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS). This 2009 Flame Red BMW F650GS is also equipped with the Heated Hand Grips option.

2011-2013 BMW F800GS and F700GS Recalled in Canada

Wed, 19 Jun 2013

Transport Canada announced a recall for the 2011-2013 BMW F800GS and the 2013 F700GS because of a problem with the kickstand ignition cut-off switch. The switch is designed to turn off the engine when the stand is down and the motorcycle is shifted into gear; this prevents the motorcycle from being ridden with the kickstand deployed. On certain BMW F800GS and F700GS models however, the cut-off switch can loosen and become damaged.

The 2013 BMW R1200GS hasn’t arrived in showrooms yet and it’s already been subjected to its second recall in Canada. Fortunately, this means the problems should be corrected before BMW‘s updated adventure-tourer gets delivered to customers. Earlier this month, Transport Canada announced a recall for the new R1200GS for a potential transmission oil leak.
