Aprilia Files Appeal for Monza Race 2 WSBK Results

As expected, Aprilia has filed an appeal with the International Motorcycling Federation‘s International Disciplinary Court for the finish to the second race of the past weekend’s World Superbike Championship round at Italy’s Monza circuit. The race ended in controversy stemming from Kawasaki‘s Tom Sykes running wide on a corner and missing a chicane on the final lap. Sykes was in third place at the time ahead of Aprilia‘s Sylvian Guintoli, and was able to return to the track ahead of Guintoli, crossing the finish less than a second ahead of the Aprilia rider to take third place.

Hopefully a 12-year old is looking at this 2014 Aprilia RSV4 SBK wide-eyed, with his jaw on the floor in the same way I looked at Fogarty's 1994 Ducati 916 SBK twenty (shit, I feel old) years ago and the feelings he gets from seeing that Aprilia will spur him on to become a biker! Piaggio Reports Q1 2013 Results

The Piaggio Group reported an 11.6% drop in net sales for the first quarter of 2013, the result of a struggling economy and unseasonably cold weather in Europe and a flatlining two-wheeler market in Vietnam. There was however some good news in North America, Vespa sales in India and a 27.8% increase in Moto Guzzi sales. According to the company’s first quarter report, Piaggio reported net sales of 303.4 million euros (US$396.8 million), down from net sales of 343.1 million euros reported the same quarter of 2012.
