Yamaha XS description

 1973 YAMAHA XS650 / TX650

This is a pretty rare find, a one owner 1973 Yamaha XS650 / TX650 with original paint and original paperwork from 1973! This is a project bike that would be a perfect candidate for restoration! The bike has 19,926 miles. It has been parked inside a barn for a number of years and was last registered in 1987-88. It is not currently running and will need plenty of work. The engine cranks over good and has good compression (I did do a compression test...right cylinder 138 psi, left cylinder 140 psi). I'm sure the carbs will need cleaning/rebuild, points, etc. since it's been sitting. The rear brakes work, but the front does not. The tires are actually original as well but obviously dry rotted after all these years. The paint and emblems are all original and in pretty nice condition. There are a few scratches, but the metal flake still shines beautifully. The gas tank looks solid with no major dents and has some light rust inside but not too bad. As for the rest of the bike, there is plenty of rust, check out the photos. The seat is in excellent condition for it's age with no tears. The bike does have aftermarket handlebars and extended front forks. If you're looking to put the bike back to stock condition you can change these easily. I also noticed the throttle cables will need to be replaced and the decompression valve cable is not hooked up. The valve itself does move and is in the closed position. From what I can tell the bike is all complete except for a battery and mirrors. Considering this is a one owner bike with nice original paint, a good compression motor and comes with the original title and warranty card from 1973, it should be a perfect start for a restoration. Please just understand this is definitely a project bike that will need plenty of work. The bike is being sold in a NO RESERVE auction and will sell to the highest bidder. I do reserve the right to end the auction early if someone makes me a fair offer. Please review all photos and ask any questions you may have. You can contact me through eBay message or call/text me at (716) 430-8977. Thank you!

Please Note:  I have only done a basic visual inspection of the bike. There are sure to be more issues that I am not aware of. I am a Top Rated eBay seller with excellent feedback and I am always 100% honest. You are welcome to come and see the bike in person and ask any questions you may have.

Payment:  $100.00 non-refundable Paypal deposit due immediately. The balance due within 7 days in the form of cash or certified check only. I will not accept Paypal for full payment.

Shipping/Pick-Up/Delivery:  The bike is located in Hamburg, NY 14075. The buyer is responsible for pick up and/or shipping. I have shipped vehicles around the country and overseas and will be happy to help if need be. The shipping process is really quite simple. I can also deliver for a fee, please contact for details.

Kenny Roberts Motorcycle Collection Up For Sale

Wed, 25 Apr 2012

Motorcycling legend Kenny Roberts has commissioned RMD Motors to auction off some rare and exclusive motorcycles from his collection, presumably to make room for more. The Japan-based company is known the world over for its collection of rare and classic motorcycles for sale, many of which are retired grand prix machines fortunate enough to escape the fate of most decommissioned racebikes: the crusher.  Headlining the Roberts collection is the 2004 Proton KRV5 originally ridden by Kurtis Roberts, King Kenny’s youngest son. The five-cylinder grand prix machine never achieved much success on the world stage, but will easily make you the center of attention at your local trackday.
