Honda CL description

1973 Honda CL175.  Over the winter this motorcycle was disasembled and the following repairs or parts were replaced.

New battery, seat cover, piston rings and cylinders honed.  Motor is still on original bore.  Previous owner had stripped spark plug hole so "Time Serts"  were installed in both spark plug holes while head was off.  Carbs were cleaned and all needles, jets and springs replaced.  New drive chain, front brake light switch, accelerator cables and exterior engine bolt kit.  Now has hex bolts for all engine covers.

The gas tank was cleaned and sealed at local radiator shop.  All dents were fixed and tank and side covers sprayed with Honda Ruby Red.  New fuel petcock then installed.

While engine was at machine shop all valve seats and valves were recut.  One new intake valve was installed at that time as prior owner had bent valve when trying unsucessfully to chase spark plug threads.

New rims and spokes have been installed.  Wheels were trued by local motorcycle shop.  Frame was cleaned, primed and painted.

Original owners manual is included as well as a clear title.  Motorcyle was purchased from Johnnys Vintage Motorcycle February 2013.

Motorcycle has been ridden around the block since being put back together and everything works as it should.  Could use new back brakes at some point.

Now for the bad, the exhaust is rusted and fork tubes are somewhat corroded.  Most of the crome needs to be replaced if you want a show bike and engine needs to be polished or painted to be really nice.  Also the side cover emblems are pretty faded and rough.  The tank emblems look pretty nice but are not show quality.

This is not a perfect show bike yet but as you can see from the pictures will look nice in someone's collection.

Please ask any questions.  Just ready to sell to clear up some room for next project.  Buyer pick up only.  Will work with your shipper.

Honda And Repsol Celebrate 20 Years Together

Mon, 10 Feb 2014

If we were to play a game of word association, the mention of “Repsol” would automatically trigger “Honda” from the audience, or at least anyone who pays the slightest bit of attention to Grand Prix racing. That’s because the two companies have achieved much success in this, their 20th year as partners. The longest running partnership between sponsor and manufacturer in the history of the Motorcycle World Championship, Repsol Honda has won 10 World titles, 124 race wins and 338 podiums in 500cc and MotoGP.

Honda Trademarks Design for Naked CBR300R

Thu, 06 Mar 2014

Earlier this week, we uncovered Kawasaki‘s design trademark for a naked version of its 250cc single-cylinder Ninja RR Mono. It now looks like Kawasaki isn’t the only Japanese manufacturer with a small-displacement naked model on the way. Honda has registered a trademark on the design for a new motorcycle that appears to be a naked CBR300R or CBR250R.

Dan Gurney’s Two-wheeled Terror at IMS

Tue, 09 Dec 2008

When the Gurney Alligator A6 made its debut in 2002, the world saw a glimpse of a new concept in sport motorcycles. Long, low, quick and efficient like its namesake, the ’Gator was like nothing we’d seen before. The bike was the brainchild of Dan Gurney, the legendary F1 and Le Mans winning driver and championship-winning sports car builder.
