Honda CL description

This is a 1972 Honda CL450 K5 Scrambler that's been about half restored.  I've lost the title, but VINs match on the frame and engine.

This is a project bike with lots of new parts that I just haven't put back together yet.  I don't know how I'd ship all of this, so it's probably best if you come to Madison, WI to pick it up.  I'm not sure how that would work, so I'm open to working with you on it.

New parts already installed and on the bike now:
-New wheels: built at Buchanan's. 18" rims with stainless spokes. All balanced and trued at Buchanan's.
-New Firestone Deluxe Champions; 18" 4.0. Not yet used.
-Frame and swingarm powdercoated matte black
-New springs on the back
-New front and back sprocket
-New chain
-New brass swingarm bushings
-New steering bearings
-New tracker bars
-New clutch and brake levers
-New fork gaiters
-Nickel-plated motor mounts
-New carb boots

What's been done with original parts that are on the bike now:
-Rebuilt drum brakes
-Original front and back brake drums laced onto new Buchanan rims
-Engine runs and both cylinders test at a solid 150 lbs compression with no leaks
-Engine degreased and garage-cleaned (by me, I'm no professional, though)
-Heat shields removed and rusty mufflers removed; ready for baffles and pipe wrap/heat tape
-Seat is original and in great shape for its age. One or two little dings in the leather. No rips or tears.
-Tank and side covers have had paint stripped. Your choice to paint, clear or leave bare metal. Tank has a dent front right side.

New parts ready to be put on the bike:
-New gel battery
-Bar end mirrors
-Crush gaskets
-Fork seals
-Complete kit of connectors for re-terminating the wiring harness
-New rectifier/regulator
-New clutch cable
-Brushed aluminum fork ears
-50 foot of grey pipe wrap

Plus I have all the old parts from the bike that will either go back on it.  I also have an extra swingarm, brass swingarm bushings, the old heat shields from the pipes and an extra (new) regulator for some reason I can't remember.

Again, there's no title. The frame serial number and the engine serial number match, I just can't find the title.  The whole thing is yours for $1900 buy-it-now price.

I am not interested in parting it out at this time unless you want to buy the wheels/tires as is.

More Than $5 Million Available From 2014 Honda Red Riders Rewards

Fri, 17 Jan 2014

The continuation of Honda’s Red Riders Rewards program for 2014 means more than $5 million in earnings will be available to racers. Honda owners have the opportunity to earn payouts at more than 1500 races in 2014 motocross, off-road, dirt track, ATV and road racing contests throughout the country. Honda’s press release was awfully thin with details for road racers, instead focusing on a restructure of the off-road series payouts and the different ways competitors can hope to win money in.

Honda VTR-Powered Lawn Mower Claims 133mph Top Speed

Wed, 17 Jul 2013

Honda UK has teamed up with its British Touring Car Championship partner Team Dynamics to produce what it calls the world’s fastest lawn mower. The Honda Mean Mower is powered by a 996cc V-Twin engine from a VTR1000F Superhawk, leading Honda to claim a top speed of 133 mph and a 0-60 time of four seconds. Based on a Honda HF2620 lawn tractor, the Mean Mower uses an all-new 4130 chromoly steel chassis and bespoke suspension and wheels from a Honda ATV.

The other day, Honda patented the name and layout of the NT1100 motorcycle

The Africa Twin parallel twin will be installed in another chassis - an asphalt tourist one. Unfortunately, at the moment there are no official pictures, only the fantasies of fans and third-party designers. Only one thing is clear - the engine will be 1100cc, and just like the CRF1100 Africa Twin touring enduro and CMX1100 Rebel chopper, the engine will be offered with both a conventional motorcycle foot-shift gearbox and a DCT robot.
