Yamaha dt1 description

1968 Yamaha DT1
The Bike That Started It All!!!

I don't sell much on eBay...but when I do, it is usually something really cool!  This Vintage 1968 Yamaha DT1 is no exception!!!

Over the past 4 years, I have meticulously brought this bike back to it's former glory.  The Vintage Parts Sellers online know me by first name as I have purchased so many hard to find Vintage parts to make this bike near new.  I downsized recently so I was not able to replace the rims and tires...which I have but have not found yet!  Moving is a B----!

The Super Size Pics tell it all.  Now for the real story...

This bike was delivered to Yamaha of Fort Walton Beach, FL in 1968 shortly after the Smith Brothers came back from Japan touring the Yamaha production facility.  As a 15 year old...we used to ride these on the beach here...it is illegal to do so now.  I remember how Smith ripped and rode this machine.  It was amazing when compared to my Yamaha 180 Street Scrambler!  It was the first real off-road motorcycle that started the Craze in North America.

I have brought the bike back from it's former glory and as you can see from the pics...I really drilled down deep to make it look this fantastic!  It will often start on the first or second kick.  The bike has too many NOS parts to list but just take a hard look.

I have provided a link to my dropbox where you can see all the pics I took.  I am a private eBayer like most of you and do my best to answer questions promptly.

It is going to be a EARLY CHRISTMAS for some lucky eBayer!  Zero feedback eBayers NOT ALLOWED so don't bother.  A deposit is required upon purchase.  Certified funds upon delivery or acceptance by your shipper.  I will consider delivery for cost of fuel within 250 miles of where I live 32571.

Good Luck and Enjoy!!!

Back in the day, the All Japan 500cc Championship at Tsukuba

Fri, 24 Jun 2011

This ‘you tube’ gem sent to me recently brought back some funny memories from the scary but incredibly exciting days of 500cc two stroke racing. This particular race was the final round of the All Japan 500cc Championship at Tsukuba Circuit where I enjoyed a head to head battle with national hero Tadahiko Taira. Yamaha’s favourite son at the time, ‘tie wrap’ as we liked to call him, was taller and better looking than most Japanese riders (maybe a war baby?) and went on to win nearly everything in Japan during his career.

Yard Built XV950 Pure Sports Channels the Yamaha FZ750

Tue, 29 Apr 2014

The latest product Yamaha Motor Europe’s Yard Built custom specials is a Star Bolt transformed into a replica of an FZ750. Dubbed the XV950 Pure Sports after the words written on the original FZ750′s fairing, the project was produced by Italy’s LowRide magazine and Radikal Chopper and styling by Oberdan Bezzi. The Star Bolt – known in Europe as the XV950 – is nearly unrecognizable in this new guise, except for its 942cc V-Twin engine.
