Lorenzo Wants to Race at Assen Despite Breaking Collarbone in Three Places

Jorge Lorenzo underwent two hours of surgery earlier this morning in Barcelona, Spain, to insert eight screws and a titanium plate to secure his fractured collarbone. By the afternoon, the Yamaha rider was back in the Netherlands to prove he is healthy enough to race in tomorrow’s TT Assen. The reigning MotoGP champion broke his collarbone in three places after high-siding in a wet practice session Thursday.

AIMExpo Celebrates Its 300th Vendor

With the signing of B&W Trailer Hitches the American International Motorcycle Expo (AIMExpo) has committed 300 exhibitors to its inaugural event this October in Orlando, Fla. “To think that just three weeks ago we were announcing our 250th exhibitor and to now be at a point where 50 more brands have committed to the expo is absolutely remarkable,” says Larry Little, VP and GM of the Marketplace Events Motorcycle Group. Yamaha Building New Factory in India

Yamaha has received approval from the government of India to build a new factory in Chennai in the southern state of Tamil Nadu. Joining an existing factory near New Delhi, the new Chennai plant is expected to increase Yamaha‘s production capabilities in India to 2.8 million units a year by 2018. The new factory will be built on a 109-acre lot in Vallam Vadagal on the outskirts of Chennai.
