Yamaha FJR description

2005 Yamaha FJR1300A, Join An Exclusive ClubCombining near-superbike power and handling with touring-bike comfort and convenience seemed like such a natural idea, ita??s almost surprising that the FJR1300 remains in a class of one. Oh well. a??Supersport Touringa?? remains an exclusive Yamaha niche, and anyway, the critics seem to understand exactly where wea??re going with the FJR1300. The Awards Just Keep Stacking UpThe latest award the FJR1300 has garnered is Cycle World Magazine's 2004 Best Sport-Touring Bike. Here's what they had to say - ...with superb luggage, superbike power, fine handling and great riding position, and nothing can touch it for eating all the pavement you care to feed it at a rate that will embarrass any other bike with saddlebags .For two years running (2004 & 2005), it has won the title of Motorcyclist Magazine's Tourer of the Year, while it was labeled Rider Magazine's Motorcycle of the Year for 2003. Not to mention, it was Cycle World's 2002 Best Sport-Touring Bike, right out of the gate.It might be confusing, at first, but soon you'll understand -A powerhouse 1298cc, DOHC, 16-valve, liquid-cooled in-line four-cylinder engine producing 145 horsepower and 99 foot-pounds of torqueShaft driveStandard side casesElectric-adjustable windshieldOptional ABSLight weight, adjustable suspension...can all coexist and result in a motorcycle that can attack corners with almost the nimbleness and precision of an all-out sportbike.Downsides? The FJR1300 moves so well, it may leave less time for taking in the scenery. The 6.6-gallon fuel capacity means you might not discover as many quaint gas stations. And, you may attract more hangers-on, so accommodating are the broad and supportive dual-density seat, excellent grab handles and cavernous storage. Life consists mainly of compromises. Some rare times, though, you really can have it all.Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price...$12,099* ($13,199* for ABS model).Available via Priority Delivery Program only.

EICMA 2008: First Impressions

Mon, 03 Nov 2008

I have had a little walk around checking out the preparations for the show. I haven’t seen anything that I haven’t already seen or heard about previously, but here’s a selection from three of the halls. Yamaha are the only manufacturer to use an industrial crane to place some of its bikes up on high rise stands.

The Japanese oddity to naming teams

Wed, 28 Jul 2010

Whenever the calendar shifts to a major Japanese race, such as the Suzuka 8hr, one of the more amusing things to do is glance down the team sheet This years highlight for me has to be team Moto Bum, with other stand outs including aprilia D.D.BOYS, Team Etching Factory Yamaha and MITO MOTO & e'freaks Honda. Looking back through the ages some of the great Japanese team names have been Burning Blood Racing Team, Dog Fight Racing and Team Moto Space amongst others. Yamaha has updated its YZF-R125 for the European market, refreshing one of the top-selling 125cc sportbikes on the continent. For 2014, the new R125 receives an upside-down fork, revised fuel-injection system, front air-intake and an R6-inspired fairing design. The engine remains unchanged from the previous version, with a single-cylinder displacing 124.7cc.
