1951 Vincent Black Shadow on 2040-motos
Vincent Black Shadow description
I have owned this Vincent since 1967. It is the last of six Vincents I have owned and the last motorcycle from my collection of British bikes which included Ariels, Triumphs, BSA, etc. I am now almost 84 years old, it's time to let someone else appreciate it. It is a series C with a 1955 D engine. Modifications include the following:
*Conversion to 12v w/ 150 Watt Alton generator
*Boyer Bransden electronic ignition
*Brembo hydraulic rear disc brake (Ducati)
*genuine leather covered seat
* 5 inch Smiths tachometer (matches speedometer)
* Amal high performance Mark II carburetors
It comes with original underseat tool tray and tools. Also some miscellaneous spares, books, manuals, etc. This bike is featured in the novel GREASED LIGHTNING, THE HOLY GRAIL OF MOTORCYCLES, written and published by me, the author, a signed copy of which goes with it. It is in running condition. To my knowledge the engine has never been torn down.

A fully restored, ex-works 1952 Vincent Black Shadow was the top selling motorcycle at the Bonhams auction, held at the International Classic Motorcycle Show at the Staffordshire County Showground on Sunday, April 28, selling for £113,500 (US $176,341 after premiums). This Black Shadow was part of the factory’s bid to set a new 24-hour speed record at Montlhéry in France in May 1952. Mechanical troubles prevented that from happening, but the team still came away with eight records, including six hours at over 100 mph.Tue, 11 Feb 2014 00:00:00 -0800
