Triumph Other description

This Auction is for a rare SURVIVOR an AMAZINGLY original factory racing Triumph T120TT Special,NEVER used or registered for street use ALWAYS used as a racer period. Here is the description I got from Paul Buccola who owned it for over 30 years.  The Triumph started out life in 1966 as a 650cc TT Special as  manufactured by the Triumph factory for use by Triumph of Burbank  for Tourist Trophy Class C racing in the US.The bike was book marked for Dusty Coppage to ride who with Eddie Mulder were Jack Hately's Burbank De Triumph team riders but, Dusty Coppage did not like the handling of the new, for 1966, frame geometry and choose to ride  a 1965 Triumph model  instead  .The bike was sold  after the 1966 season to Donnie Harris who used it primarily at Ascot Park for junior TT racing. After a quite successful 1967,with several top ten places the bike was then traded to Paul Buccola also for Ascot park junior TT racing. The motor was upgraded by Dusty Coppage (then in Simi Valley Ca) in 1968 and fitted with the alloy oil tank (the original tank goes with the bike) The bike was also used by Paul Buccola in Southern California local racing from 1968 through 1972 until, Moto Cross took over most of the dirt racing in Cal. the bike then sat from 1972 until 1983 and was then service by Bert's Cycles in Cottonwood Arizona  where it was raced at local dirt tracks in the Verde Valley until Paul moved back to Southern Cal in 1988 where he used it at Willow Springs as a Road Racer for a couple of seasons and then retired it for good in 1990 where it had been in storage until turned over to his friend Erich Martin in May 2007. I got it last year from Erich Martin who  took off all the road racing bits tires, clip on handlebars, etc) and reassembled it with its original parts as supplied by Paul Buccola back to its original dirt tracker style as you see it now,it still has its original Energy Transfer ignition (no battery) that still sparks and she runs great!.The T120TT stamped bikes 1965-1967 used for racing, almost ALL suffered from major engine blow ups or damaged frames etc. due to hard use, to find one with its factory original matching frame and engine number is almost unheard of, it's only "War Wound" at one time, it broke its drive chain and broke a piece of alloy about one and a half inch long by half an inch wide got broken off, an amazing neat break easily fixed by a good welder it doesn't show because it's hidden from view by the carburetor and air cleaner see pictures. Remember, this ISN"T a trailer queen or a road used bike that has been "restored" to look "PRETTY" with Chinese reproduction parts, electronic ignitions later type carburetors, restamped engine and frame numbers etc. This one not only has its original frame and motor but has its original wheels, brakes, handlebars ,levers kill switch, TT exhaust pipes monoblock carbs.I have its original oil tank in good shape but has been welded, they were prone to crack from vibration, the seat is a period Bates racing seat which was on the bike from day one NO ONE raced with the with the big ole loaf of bread looking stock seats they came with! SO here is an opportunity to obtain a piece of history raced in its lifetime by only two people Donnie Harris and Paul Buccola. Triumph T120TT and Harley-Davidson XR750 were the Only way to go ridden by the very top riders in the USA in the mid-1960's. I used to own British Motorbikes in No Hollywood for fifteen years and was a factory Triumph dealer for a short while before the old Triumph Co. folded in the early 1980's I know the real thing when I see it.Viewing available anytime. The bike is in No Hollywood just call Frank 818 645 9029 winning bidder responsible for shipping and transportation, local pick up is fine, good luck with your bidding please don't bid if you don't have the money!! thank you.

New Triumph Touring Bike Spied!

Fri, 03 Dec 2010

The lucrative touring segment will soon get a jolt when Triumph enters the market with a flourish. Spy photos from England’s Motor Cycle News show what looks to be a replacement for the Trophy touring model that bit the dust back in 2003. The bike is much larger than Triumph’s Sprint GT sport-tourer, promising a bigger, more powerful three-cylinder engine.
