Triumph Bonneville description

If you are looking for a restored vintage Triumph and don't want to spend $14K, LOOK NO FURTHER. Undergone complete, beautifully executed restoration. Frame, swing arm, triple clamps, foot pegs etc all powder coated. Crankshaft cleaned and magnafluxed. New primary chain, primary drive sprocket and new clutch. Cylinder head blasted with new valves and guides. Cylinder barrel bored to + .040" with new pistons and Hastings rings. Front and rear master cylinders rebuilt as were both calipers. Original Amal carbs rebuilt and resleeved.  New cocktail shaker mufflers. Original Dunlop rims respoked with stainless steel. New old stock chrome rear grab rail. New Lucas wiring harness with Boyer electronic ignition. New turn signals (Jap reproduction). Replaced old side cover/air box assembly with T120 style covers and air filters. I have the old parts if for some odd reason you prefer that. New seat cover and brand new Avon Road Runner tires. Custom hand painted tank- not in stock color scheme (much nicer looking).  This one is as well sorted as you will find. Sounds awesome- looks better. Ride it or put it in your living room- it doesn't leak a drop. Has about 250 miles since rebuild so motor is not yet broken in.  Not looking to cover my cost (listing price doesn't come close) but I would like to fund this winter's project.

Mon, 08 Nov 2010

I've just come back to the hotel after our first day riding the Tiger 800 with the other Brit journos. One of the journos (who shall remain nameless, but alas, it wasn't me) crashed at low speed. Pictured here is his bike.

Are Motorcycles Safer With Antilock Brakes?

Tue, 30 Dec 2008

A new report says riders with ABS-equipped bikes can dramatically reduce the chance of a fatal accident. The study compared fatality rates among riders on bikes that have antilock brakes, and it found that death rates were 38% lower on motorcycles equipped with the optional ABS systems compared to non-ABS bikes. In 2005-2006, the fatal crashes per 10,000 registered motorcycles without antilock brakes was 6.6.
