Suzuki Forms Joint Venture for Developing Fuel Cell Technology

Suzuki announced it is partnering with U.K.-based Intelligent Energy Holdings to form a joint venture for developing fuel cell systems. The new joint venture, SMILE FC System Corporation, will work on developing fuel cell systems for both motorcycles and automobiles. Intelligent Energy, with its fuel cell expertise and Suzuki, with its mass production capabilities, will each have 50% share of SMILE FC.

Suzuki is a bit of an underdog in the MotoGP World Championship – at least, as much of an underdog as a full factory outfit can be. With just one Suzuki on the grid, expectations are low for the Japanese manufacturer. Suzuki Hit with $885,000 Penalty and Other Sanctions by EPA

American Suzuki has agreed to a number of sanctions including an $885,000 penalty for importing ATVs and off-road motorcycles that do not meet the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency‘s emission control standards. The EPA and Suzuki negotiated the monetary penalty as well as other sanctions for the 25,396 units of the 2006-2009 LT-R450 ATV and the 62 units of the 2010 RMX450Z.
