Japan Needs Your Help
Thu, 17 Mar 2011By now, we’ve all seen pictures and video of the devastation in Japan following the March 11 earthquake and the ensuing tsunamis. Japan, of course, has contributed much to motorcycling, with the Big Four of Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha, as well as tire manufacturer Bridgestone, helmet companies Arai and Shoei and many other motorcycle industry stalwarts all coming from the Land of the Rising Sun. Jon Bekefy and Greg Hatton, two motorcycle enthusiasts, industry employees and above all, humanitarians, have set up a fundraising campaign benefiting the Red Cross for relief efforts in Japan.
Capirossi Announces Retirement at Conclusion of 2011 Season
Thu, 01 Sep 2011Loris Capirossi announced he will retire at the end of the 2011 MotoGP season, closing off a quarter century of racing including 22 years at the Grand Prix level and three World Championships. “It’s an important moment in my career, and the decision I made has come about after a lot of reflection,” says Capriossi. “I’m happy that after 25 years, of which 22 were in the world championship, I’m at a point where I can still have a smile on my lips as I part ways, even if it’s difficult to think that I won’t be riding a bike next year.” The announcement was made during a press conference at Misano for the upcoming San Marino Grand Prix, the final Italian stop of the 2011 season.
Suzuki Motor of America Officially Open for Business
Tue, 02 Apr 2013American Suzuki Motor Corporation is officially no more, with the company’s operating assets transferred to the newly-formed Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. on March 31, 2013. The new company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Japan’s Suzuki Motor Corporation, will be the sole distributor of Suzuki motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, marine engines and automotive parts for the continental U.S.
