1947 Other Makes Velocette Mss 500 on 2040-motos

I inherited this vintage Velocette MSS 500 upon my dad's death nine years ago. The California DMV Certificate of Ownership is in my name. He acquired the bike in the late 1940's. He rode and raced it around Southern California during that time into the 50's. Some flat track, TT's, hill climbs, hare scrambles, etc. He also rode it legally on the street around Northern California in the 1960's. Obviously the bike is well stripped from it's original configuration. I believe a few external parts were also changed, such as the front wheel and handlebars. As far as I know there are no modifications to the motor. Original Webb girder forks. The carburetor is missing except for the slide. I have a few boxes of small miscellaneous parts, but there are no bigger body parts (i.e. no original headlight, front wheel, fenders, tool box, etc). As I recall, he said it stopped running because of some small fibrous timing gear? that broke. It never got fixed. It has not ran since probably around the early 1970's. It has been sitting in our garage(s) ever since. The gas tank is destroyed due to rust from the inside. The rest of the condition is pretty obvious from the photos. I'm selling it in as-is condition with no guarantees or warranties on anything. You are bidding based on what you see in the photos. I've been told there were only 50 of these sold in the US in 1947.
