circa 1915 Smiths Flyer Motor Wheel Cycle Car Red Bugs are small, two
passenger, wooden buckboard cycle cars that were produced from 1914 to about
1930. Early Red Bugs where powered by a fifth wheel with an integral motor. The
Smith Motor Wheel and the Smith Flyer were first manufactured by the A.O. Smith
Co. of Milwaukee in 1914. Five years later, Briggs and Stratton bought the
manufacturing rights and produced the little woodie for several
years. This example has some re manufactured parts and is not sorted out or running. The motor does have compression and spins through freely. There are parts missing and we do not claim that this is a complete and running unit! This cycle car would make an excellent display or can be finished up properly by someone that is knowledgeable with these units. NOTE! We do not know the history of this cycle car although we make every effort to represent this vehicle as honestly as possible. We encourage a personal inspection prior to bidding. This cycle car is being offered up as a collectors item with all flaws and issues that come with being a used item.
