1948 Gilera 500 Sanremo Race Bike Replica

I am selling my two Gilera show pieces, the Gilera 500cc in this auction and a Gilera 125cc race replica in my other auction.

This auction is for the Gilera 500cc only. I assume that it is a replica based on the 1948 Saturno street model and not the real Sanremo racer, which would be extremely rare. However I am not an expert and bought the bike as a display item and not for use as a racer. This replica of the Gilera race bikes of the period has the patina of an old racer. Some scratches and paint chips on the tank, some bubbles under the number plate. The rims are marked "Radelli, made in Italy", spokes or rim are in beautiful shape with minimal corrosion. Period Dellorto carburetor. Tires look like new, perfect for a show bike. No instruments, mileage is unknown.

The frame serial number on the crossbar under the seat matches the engine number 263658 (VIN). Based on the Gilera books this puts it as a 1948 model. There is another number  at the top rear of the engine just above where it bolts to the frame, it is 26A1670, the A has no crossbar and could be an inverted V.

I do not have any history of the bike, it was last run in 1990 by the previous owner. I never started the engine,  it turns over when gears are engaged and the rear wheel is turned (no kickstarter). I can not make an assessment of the mechanical condition of the engine. The bike is sold as a display model, if you want to run it, you will have to make all the necessary adjustments to the engine, frame and suspension before trying to start and run it.

The bike is sold on a Bill of Sale, I also have a non-current  GA registration document  in my name.  Sale is final, sold as is, and where is - no warranty, no returns.
