Mon, 24 Feb 2014The 2014 World Supersport season opened in dramatic fashion after a red-flagged restart turned the 18-lap race into a five-lap sprint, with MV Agusta making a triumphant return to the top of the podium for the first time since 1976. The Supersport event began with a hard-fought battle between three-time champion Kenan Sofuoglu, Kev Coghlan and Michael van der Mark. Sofuoglu and his Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R held a slim lead over Coghlan’s Yamaha R6 and van der Mark’s Honda CBR600RR when the race was halted after CIA Insurance Honda rider Jack Kennedy suffered an engine problem and leaked oil onto the track.

The 2011 WSBK Champion Carlos Checa arrived at Assen with the lead in the championship and a three-race winning streak, but opting to run wet tires in Race Two cost him the lead and may have contributed to a crash that severely injured Liberty Racing‘s Brett McCormick. Kawasaki Reports Q4 2011-2012 Results
Tue, 01 May 2012Kawasaki reported a slight increase in sales while reducing the operating loss from its motorcycle and engine division during its fiscal year ended March 31, 2011. According to its year-end report, Kawasaki‘s motorcycle and engine business generated 235.2 billion yen (US$2.9 billion) in sales, a slight increase from the 234.4 million yen reported the year before. Kawasaki still suffered a loss from the division, though the loss of 2.959 million yen was still an improvement from the operating loss of 5.0 million yen reported the year prior.
