The Netherlands hosted a dramatic weekend of World Superbike racing that featured a red-flagged wet race, several riders crashing while leading, a first-time race winner, a photo finish between two teammates and the reigning World Champion finishing out of the points because of a poor choice of tires. The 2011 WSBK Champion Carlos Checa arrived at Assen with the lead in the championship and a three-race winning streak, but opting to run wet tires in Race Two cost him the lead and may have contributed to a crash that severely injured Liberty Racing‘s Brett McCormick. Update: Bike Stolen On ‘Round The World Adventure Recovered!

Martin Williams, the man who had his motorcycle stolen halfway through his trip around the world, has been reunited with his Kawasaki. A man walking his dog one morning spotted the bike and reported it to authorities. Williams was obviously elated to get his bike back, but the thieves unfortunately had their way with it before it was recovered.

Jeremy Toye from San Diego, California is no rookie to professional road racing. His accomplishments include setting the fastest lap for a newcomer at the Isle of Man TT in 2006, a third place at the Macau GP, and multiple top-five finishes in AMA Pro Racing competition. Race veteran Toye will compete in the Open Class Division on a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, which will be modified to meet the extreme demands of racing a 12.42-mile course ending at the mountain-top finish.
