KTM 380 MXC description

1998 KTM 380 MXC.

Super low hour 1998 KTM 380 MXC. Original 2-owner bike.

Still has the original Bridgestone M78 tires on it. Tire date code AC297.

This bike does not have an odometer so exact miles are UNKNOWN. Judging by the wear on the tires and being that this is a 380cc machine I would estimate mileage between 300-600 since new.

When we bought this bike it was running rich. A carb clean and rejetting did not cure it. We replaced the original carburetor with a brand new Keihin 39mm PWK. Now it runs great! Starts easy. Jetting is crisp and clean. Idles nicely once warned up.

Engine is nice and tight. No unusual knocks, ticks, rattles, whirs ETC. Shifts nicely thru all gears. Clutch operates properly.

Once engine is warmed up, carburetion is clean and crisp. Very little smoke. Super fast with the 39mm carb.

Original exhaust in fantastic shape. Pipe shines brightly. No rust or corrosion. There is one little ding on the side. SEE PICTURE. Muffler is nice and quiet. Spark arrester intact. Muffler has a couple little scratches on top. Looks like boot marks??? Is not rashed up or dented. No loop outs !!!

Suspension rebounds and dampens nicely. No rust or corrosion on the chrome. No visible oil leaks at either end.

All original chain and sprockets. Rear aluminum sprocket shows only normal minor wear from contact with the chain.

Rims, hubs, spokes and discs are nice and clean. No corrosion, rust or stain. All shine brightly.

Original handlebars are straight. The original Domino grips were hard from age so we replaced them with new OEM KTM Domino grips. Levers are straight. Brake lever had a little scuff. We polished it up a bit.

The original leather seat cover was faded on top. We replaced it with an aftermarket replica cover. Looks great. Old cover avail upon request.

The rear fender had a white streak in the silver plastic. We replaced it with a new UFO fender. Old fender also avail if needed.

All other plastic is in very nice shape. There are a several little scattered nicks and scratches from age and light use. Please view all pictures and use the ZOOM. Front # plate has a small 3x3 rectangle spot where the Oregon OHV sticker was. It is a little bit darker in that spot vs. the rest of the # plate.

All original swing arm decals and front fender decals are intact and in nice shape.

The graphics on the right tank shroud are beginning to peel a little on the bottom corner. See picture.

The little heat bumpers on the back of the right side panel are visible from the front. See picture.

The left foot peg is a little bit bent. See picture.

Brake pedal, pegs, kick starter, kickstand are all nice and tight. Not bent. Not floppy. Very nice.........

Please view all pictures carefully and use the ZOOM. More pic avail upon request. This is a very clean old bike with low hours. It is not perfect but still very nice. Excellent example for the big-bore 2-stroke enthusiast to collect or ride.

Moto3 proves its worth at Assen

Mon, 02 Jul 2012

Describing the action in the Moto3 race as ‘edge of the seat’ would be doing it a disservice as the train of battling riders did more than prove the worth of the 250cc four-stroke singles that were introduced this season. For the entirety of the 22 lap race the fighting was full of gasp-filled moments, in the first half of the race the top 20 were all in the same camera shot and covered by less than 2.5 seconds. Towards the end there was a breakaway group of five riders; Maverick Vinales, Sandro Cortese, Danny Kent, Luis Salom and Louis Rossi.

KTM 690 Duke Replaces Kawasaki Ninja 250R for WSBK’s 2012 European Junior Cup

Fri, 20 Jan 2012

The World Superbike Championship‘s European Junior Cup youth racing series will switch to race-prepped KTM 690 Duke motorcycles for 2012 from the Kawasaki Ninja 250R racebikes used in its inaugural 2011 season. The rebranded KTM European Junior Cup will be open to riders 14-19 and will be held at eight WSBK rounds in 2012. The series was conceived as an entry point for young racers, providing them opportunities to develop their skills before moving up to higher classes such as the World Superstock Championship and beyond.

2013 KTM 1190 Adventure R Revealed

Wed, 19 Sep 2012

When news broke yesterday of leaked details of the new 2013 KTM 1190 Adventure, the first question that crossed our minds was “when do we find out about the R version?” The answer, it turns out, is today, with a new photograph of the 1190 Adventure R now surfacing. Members of ADVForum, where we found the original leaked KTM brochure, have uncovered new a studio photo of the R model as well as the non-R version. The 2013 KTM 1190 Adventure R is equipped with larger wheels than the base model, likely a 21-inch wheel up front and an 18-inch wheel at the rear (the non-R 1190 Adventure appears to sport a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel.) We are surprised the tires appear to be street tires and not knobby off-road rubbers.
