Indian Chief description

1947 Indian Chief  - Bonneville Motor

This ad is for the 1947 Indian Chief - NOT the 1958 HD for the selling price

The video taken 6/12/2016 reveals (2) items that are in place but not mounted!

  • Windshield - Aftermarket and not Buco - resting but not mounted
  • Front Fender Accessory lamp - NOS with original wire pigtail in NEW condition!

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

 XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

  • Matching Numbers
  • Engine VIN # includes BM for Bonneville motor - I will NOT be held accountable if it is not!

I have NOT pulled the heads to verify this & no plans to do at this time

Per the history for engine numbers by Indian, it would be a 1300cc motor vs 1200cc

I "have not" pulled the heads to verify piston size/height/bore, stroke, etc.

  • Carb is correct for the year as a M344 Linkert.
  • A partial restore is started.
  • DO NOT FAULT incorrect hardware! Current install is a mixture!
  • Magneto was sent off to Belanger's in Maine or "Mainely Magneto's" in January 2016. Replaced!
  • Mechanic who worked on this bike in January to May stated it was in running condition

I have done nothing to the bike and being sold AS IS!

Indian Motorcycles Heading to … Um … India

Mon, 16 Dec 2013

Polaris Industries announced it will launch its Indian Motorcycles brand in India on January 22, 2014. The inherently awkward naming aside, Indian Motorcycles India will begin operations about two months after the launch of its Polaris cousins Victory Motorcycles as the latest brand to seek out a chunk of the world’s second largest motorcycle market. Indian Motorcycles India will offer the company’s complete lineup, which includes the Chief Classic, Chief Vintage and Chieftain.

Hero MotoCorp Launches 125cc Ignitor in India

Tue, 03 Jul 2012

Hero MotoCorp has launched the Ignitor, a 125cc premium model based on the CBF Stunner from former partner turned rival Honda. The Ignitor is one of the final models Hero will produce with technology licensed from Honda, and it is expected to bridge the gap before Hero introduces its own new models (with help from a gentleman named Erik Buell.) Like the Stunner, the Hero Ignitor is powered by a 125cc single-cylinder engine. Both models claim 11hp and 8 ft-lb., but the Ignitor reaches its peak torque at 5000 rpm while the Stunner has to spin up to 6500 rpm.
