Honda ST1100 description

Stem to stern description:
Front tire: about 80/90 percent worn.
Bike comes with new front and rear tires
Fender :is just beginning to fade a little. Not that noticeable
Brakes: excellent. Wheels true and in balance
Rotors: two, can't feel any grooves on either
Headlight turn signals: all excellent. Some small chips on edge only of rear view mirror housings -Glass excellent
Fork tubes: excellent no leaks
Windshield: less than a year old, 1000 miles
Plastics: fairings: excellent, good paint, no missing tabs
Tank: tiny bit of fade, not really noticeable. A few tiny scuffs / scratches
Dash: guages clear, all works as original, a dimple in the plastic below one of the smaller gages.
Battery: AGM,  new this month
Engine: Drive train Excellent plus.
Seat: Seat has two tiny places. Neither is a puncture. Left alone would last years. One is slight abrasion along a ridge, not a crack. Just saying it is not perfect but years of use left.
I have purchased a top of line butt pad that is included.
Rear bags: A few paint blems. No damage to the boxes. Key included, they all work.
Rear tire. It is slick. I include a replacement, new.
Includes: original manual in original folding valise, and original tool kit, and a small patch / plug kit.
Extras/ Mods: It has a Heavy Duty alternator, stock, of 40 amps to run all your gear. I used the correct gauge of wire and added Two small relays to provide a 12 volt accessory outlet and port for heated gear. Also it has been wired for Oxford heated grips for early morning rides, included.  They are displayed in the photos.
The wiring is zip tied and fused. I installed a voltmeter so you can keep tabs. The magneto puts out a 14volt + while riding.
There is a schematic that I drew of it and placed it in the owners manual, which is a $45 value.
I also include a set of vintage swept back Gold Wing bars which are the correct type and size if you want to do the popular handle bar extent ion that you can find on the internet. It reduced your reach and some claim to like the seating posture better with it.
This bike was continuously garaged by the previous owner as he owned about a dozen bikes. I have kept it in carports / sheds and covered. It is in excellent condition and ready to ride. It is almost showroom shape but not perfect.
Overall Performance: Excellent
At just 17000 miles , its just broken in good. It will cruise all day at 95 mph. At 4000 rpm it is doing 79mph and hardly breathing. Redlines at 8k.
This was my favorite Honda, outside of the Classic 750 four. I can't tell you how it saddens me to sell it, but I have back and heart issues that makes the sale necessary.
Call to discuss offers. Don't waste our time with stupid low ball offers.
I'm not playing the eBay lowball offer game. Email with a bonafide offer WITH A PHONE NUMBER so I can tell you are real. You may inspect it. You may test drive with a deposit.
I reserve the right to prior outside sale or discontinue the listing / sale for any reason before I get your deposit.
Only $500 deposit is accepted with Paypal. Balance to be cash or cashiers check drawn on a Nationally Known Bank (please check with me) or USPS money orders.
The bike is for sale in several venues.
You will pick up the bike, or send an agent / shipper.  I will take pictures if you send an agent. I refuse to be responsible for third party agents / shippers damage or inability to protect it during transit.
I am a no BS guy.

Ben Bostrom Events

Fri, 05 Jul 2013

Ex-racer Ben Bostrum might have stopped competing on motorcycles, but he hasn't given up his passion for two wheels. He's teamed up with motorsports promoter M1 to create Ben Bostrom Events, a company that plans to host world-class cycling and running races across the US. According to a press release, the high-intensity events will feature an 'entertainment-filled atmosphere', combining many of the familiar elements found at other MOB (mud, obstacles, beer) racing events.

Press launches - the ugly truth. Part 3

Sun, 03 Apr 2011

So with an afternoon of sightseeing completed (a rare luxury on most launches) it's back to the hotel for the press conference. These are you usually long winded, tooth pulling affairs with Japanese technicians insisting on speaking their bestest engrish which only serves to elongate the proceedings. Nothing kills a presentation more than reading every word of a powerpoint slide verbatum, even thought the viewers can read exactly the same words (and probably a lot faster).  The Crossrunner presentation was mercifully brief and snappy followed by dinner in the hotel and a reasonably early night as everyone had already been up for twenty hours.

MotoGP Axes Claiming Rule and Adjusts Moto2 Engine Swap Fees

Wed, 03 Jul 2013

The International Motorcycling Federation‘s Grand Prix Commission officially annulled MotoGP‘s Claiming Rule. Effective immediately, teams using the official spec Magneti Marelli ECU hardware and software are exempt from having their engines claimed. Starting in the 2014 season however, the claiming rule will be cancelled completely.
