Postie Bike Challenge [video]
Fri, 19 Jun 2009The Postie Bike Challenge started in 2002 as a one-off event in Brisbane, Australia to prove that small bikes can travel long distances over both asphalt, dirt, sand, or stony surfaces has turned into a 10-day charity event. The entry fee is $4,000 but almost everything is taken care of, including: Late model Honda CT110 Postie bike (registered to you!) All breakfasts, lunches and dinners All fuel for the trip One way air ticket back to Brisbane Support truck to carry equipment, clothing bag and mechanics Final celebration dinner and hotel accommodation That’s right, you can keep the Honda CT110 Postie bike (designed for commercial and agricultural, also used by Australia Post) but the concept is to give the bike to charity in your name after the event is over, its up to you but more than 90% of the participants do give the bike back. The 2009 Postie Bike Challenge will take place from October 3rd to the 13th and will go from Brisbane to Melbourne, the destination changes every year. Electric Honda Motorcycle to Debut Next Year
Tue, 04 Aug 2009According to Honda’s head of motorcycle operations, Tatsuhiro Oyama, the lithium-ion battery powered motorcycle will target corporate customers which may include Japan Post and delivery companies, the bike will debut in Japan next year. Oyama, made the announcement on August 1st at a test drive event in Motegi, Japan. Honda started building a battery factory earlier this year with joint-venture partner GS Yuasa, manufacturing batteries for Honda’s electric hybrid cars but Oyama declined to disclose the motorcycle battery supplier.
2013 European Junior Cup to Use Honda CBR500R
Wed, 14 Nov 2012As expected, Honda announced its new CBR500R sportbike will be featured in the 2013 European Junior Cup, a single-spec racing series that competes at European rounds of the World Superbike Championship. We saw this coming when Honda announced it would supply an all new sportbike for the European Junior Cup, but the news wasn’t official until after Honda unveiled the CBR500R alongside its siblings the CB500F and CB500X at the 2012 EICMA Show. Plus this also gives us an excuse to run a 39-picture gallery of the new CBR500R after the jump.
