With the two test riders coming forward to act as replacement riders for the injured Rossi and Aoyama, it brought back memories of the days when the grid would be gifted with wildcard riders from the respective countries. The Japanese rounds were always attended by some of the top guys with experience of the 500GP and MotoGP bikes, through racing them in their domestic championships. We’re only three days into the racing action for the Isle of Man TT and one rider has already established himself as the star of this TT. Michael Dunlop, of the famous Dunlop racing family, took the victory at the Royal London 360 Superstock race, giving him his third win of the 2013 Isle of Man TT. The latest win gives Dunlop six in his career on the Mountain Course, tying him with such noted names as Geoff Duke, Jimmie Guthrie, Jim Redman and John Surtees.

Isle of Man TT 2014: Monster Supersport TT 1 Results

Gary Johnson narrowly beat out Bruce Anstey to take the first of two Supersport races at the 2014 Isle of Man TT. Riding the Daytona 675, Johnson’s win was the first for Triumph since 2003, ironically, with Anstey taking the victory that year in the Junior 600cc class. The race started three hours behind schedule due to fog, but once it began it quickly became a duel between Johnson and Anstey.
