2014 AMA Supercross – Phoenix Results

Kawasaki‘s Ryan Villopoto nabbed a hard-earned first victory of the 2014 AMA Supercross season, overcoming a poor start that saw him ninth after the first lap for the win. The three-time reigning champion found himself well back after the first corner as Yoshimura Suzuki‘s Jake Moss took the holeshot ahead of Yamaha‘s Justin Brayton and the KTM‘s Ryan Dungey. Brayton took over the lead by the second corner and would stay in front for the first 13 laps.

When Honda first introduced the VFR1200F late in 2009, Editor Duke was an instant believer in the machine’s capabilities. It blurred the line between sportbike and tourer, and the addition of a true dual-clutch transmission that actually works was truly a surprise. Marc Marquez is an incredibly talented motorcycle racer, both on asphalt and in the dirt. His skills on the blacktop are well known by now, but his speed in the dirt opened some eyes as he demonstrated during the Superprestigio, an invitational dirt track event revived by Marquez to have a little fun in the off season and showcase the skills of some of the top riders in the world. Marquez handily won the Superprestigio class for grand prix racers, while the Open class, comprised of non GP riders, was won by that class’ most notable entry: American Brad Baker, the reigning AMA Grand National Champion.
