Harley-Davidson Touring description

Tired of pulling up and seeing a sea of black Harleys, want to stand out in the crowd, look different? Do YOU want to get ALL the looks?

The "General" can make that happen.

When we started on this no budget build, we envisioned a time in the early 1940's where a 4 Star Army General might be buying a Harley for his personal use. What would he want? What would he look for in a bike? Being a military man, we feel he would have wanted looks that paralleled his status and rank, as well as great looks and reliability and was easy to maintain.

The General has issued orders and here is what "HE" built.

The basic platform is based on a 2003 Road King Anniversary Model. The paint and chrome were a little tired, but the bike was in good condition though it did have some miles.

That's where it started, here's where it is now.

The "General" has been treated to a full restoration, no expense spared, no part overlooked, down to the smallest detail.  Reliability and nostalgic great looks were the goal for this build. Just take a look at the paint. It is truly reminiscent of the early 1940's and was custom mixed to get just the right color, and flattened 20% per the Generals tastes and to fit in with the period. Additionally the tanks are festooned with the ultra rare, bronze,  2013 CVO Anniversary tank emblems. (just try buying those). But for the General the sky's the limit.

The wheels we replaced with wire spokes and treated to gloss black powder coating. Can't have mags or aluminum wheels on a 40's themed bike now can we? We also shaved the right front fork and added a 1967 FLH hubcap so you could see those beautiful spokes.  All the rest of the parts on the bike were treated to a full powdercoating, either in satin or gloss black. Around back more custom features such as a reworked tombstone taillight with turn indicators, custom rear bumper Vance and Hines True Duals (ceramic coated) and much more. On the front end we added light visors to all 3 lights and "Dagmar" style front turn lenses. Additionally we added a custom front bumper as well.

To further make the bike look period all the cable are the "stealth" series. Of course we didn't stop there. Custom chubby style fat handlebars, switches de-labled for that ultra clean look. Custom dash with speedo AND tach!

For the ultimate seating comfort we added a Corbin solo and to top off the rear fender a beautiful powder coated rack. We also removed the stock hard bags and installed BRAND NEW HD leather saddlebags. BRAND NEW! We then treated the entire set to a redye in distressed bomber jacket brown. You will be the first to put any junk in these trunks!!

All in all EVERY part has been touched and refinished or rebuilt. Suspension, motor, trans, forks, brakes, electrical, There has been no parts left untouched, and no expense spared building this bike. Everything on this bike works and functions as it would have when new.

There's a lot more going on with the bike. Take a look at the images and if you have any specific questions, please call or email. I would be happy to discuss the "General" with you. If you wish to come see the General in person prior to auction end, great. I am located in Central Florida between Orlando and Ocala.

Remember, Biketoberfest is coming up in October, and I am 50 miles away. Buy it now, use it there. When your done, drive it home or drop it back off and I'll hold it for you till you get a shipper arranged to take it home.

The "General" won't disappoint!

On final thing. Do you need to ride two up? If you hit the BIN price I will include a full set of semi gloss crash bars as well as a HD Badlander seat with less than 1000 miles that looks brand new, and a HD rear backrest with brackets as well as a set of HD passenger foot boards. Of course the seat and backrest are black.

Want to ship the bike overseas? Great! I will assist the buyer on this side, including delivery to Jacksonville, the nearest port. The best part is the bike has a production date of 08/2003 so its falls within the ten year or older category.

Thanks for looking.

Harley-Davidson Reveals Project Livewire

Thu, 19 Jun 2014

Yesterday we published a scoop on what we believed to be a production electric motorcycle by, of all companies, Harley-Davidson, dubbed “Livewire.” Today, H-D officially announced Project LiveWire as the company’s first electric motorcycle. However, it appears as though our speculation about LiveWire going into production was a bit off base. Instead, The Motor Company is continuing with its customer-led product development approach and letting riders decide whether or not LiveWire sees the light of day. Starting next week select consumers across the country will be able to ride and provide feedback on the bike, helping to shape the future of Harley-Davidson’s first-ever electric motorcycle. While not for sale, Project LiveWire is specifically designed for the purpose of getting insight into rider expectations of an electric Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
