Harley-Davidson Sportster description

1970 XLCH 900, not a 1000 like most! Only made in 1969 and 1970. Known as the "Drunk Monkey".( A Magazine asked me to name it for a shoot ) Originally sold from factory as a dirt track racer. Never raced. Was converted into street bike in 1976 and parked until I got it 15 or so years ago from cousin. Looks exactly the same as I got it. Paint is single part lacquer with real gold leafing, so you want to wash this with new born baby care or just a hose. The Ouch band-aid is from a dumbass backing into it 11 or 12 years ago and you can't fix this paint. It's only "original " once. Family members all said that it was too scary to ride. Might have 3,000 or 4,000 miles. I added tach and speedo because NC. said it had to have one for inspection, never hooked up speedo. Was sold from Macon, HD in '70 without front brakes, speedo or tach. Race bike. Shifts on right and brake on left Front end is 1976ish with dual discs. Featured in 2016 Biker Babes Calendar top of page December. Wins shows and trophies, and embarrasses your friends with 107" Big Dogs, at least they shift into 5th or 6th. Motorcycle is reliable and will start as long as there is gas and charged battery. eBay will not upload the VIN because there aren't enough characters and no way to enter "stars". Recent neck surgery has ended my riding. My loss is your gain. Not giving this away, not a $2000 Sporty! Is worth more as just an engine / trans than a whole bike, as Drag racers eat these 900's up! Don't HAVE to sell, just would be sad for it to sit. Will email factory service manual on PDF and include extra, new Interstate battery (Dry) with sale. No trades please. This is a seriously nice bike, please be serious. For sale locally and I reserve the right to end sale early.

2013 Harley-Davidson Breakout Unveiled at Daytona Bike Week

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

In a rare move, Harley-Davidson has unveiled a base version of its Breakout months after first launching the exclusive Custom Vehicle Operations version. Presented at the 2013 Daytona Bike Week, the 2013 Harley-Davidson Breakout offers a similar low and muscular profile as the CVO version but at prices starting at $17,899 compared to the premium model’s $26,999 price point. Tom Roderick reviewed the 2013 Harley-Davidson CVO Breakout last August, saying it “continues the tradition of exclusivity, performance and style customers have come to expect from Harley-Davidson’s Custom Vehicle Operations.” But take away the premium CVO features and what do you have?

Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle Vance & Hines Team Unveils Restyled V-Rod Drag Bikes

Fri, 09 Mar 2012

The Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines racing team unveiled its restyled V-Rod drag motorcycles ahead of the first Pro Stock Motorcycle round of the 2012 NHRA Full Drag Racing series. Reigning champion Ed Krawiec and Andrew Hines will compete for the Harley-Davidson team on new V-Rod drag bikes, restyled to more closely resembled the Night Rod Special production model. This marks the first restyling of Harley-Davidson’s NHRA competition bikes since the V-Rod entered the competition in 2002, and comes as The Motor Company celebrates the V-Rod’s 10th anniversary.“The goal was to make the drag racing motorcycles look more like the current production Night Rod Special motorcycle,” says Kris Schoonover, Harley-Davidson racing manager.
