New Harley-Davidson Book Ties Together The Company’s Past

Margie Siegal, former columnist for IronWorks Magazine and motorcycle enthusiast has written a book on the history of the world’s most famous motorcycle, Harley-Davidson. Entitled,  Harley-Davidson: A History of the World’s Most Famous Motorcycle, the book ties together the mechanical evolution of the Harley engines, the social history of Harley and the beautiful visuals associated with Harleys in design, advertising, artful photography and collectibles. Harley-Davidson are words that evoke the open American road and the “Made in America” tradition like no others.

In past years, the biennial Auto Expo in India slipped under the radar while the industry was focused more on shows such as EICMA in Italy and Intermot in Germany. But with India’s middle class starting to flex its financial muscle while other markets continue to struggle, the New Delhi show is becoming much more prominent, with major OEMs positioning themselves to claim a piece of the India’s 13 million vehicles-a-year market. Sons Of Anarchy Claims “We Basically Saved Harley.”

“We basically saved Harley,” says Sons of Anarchy co-star Mark Boone Jr. (Bobby) to Susan Carpenter of The Hollywood Reporter. In a time before the economic meltdown, motorcycle sales, especially for Harley-Davidson, were booming. After the collapse, sales have only started to pick up again within the past two years (at nowhere near pre-2008 levels, however).
