Harley-Davidson FXR description

I bought this bike on EBAY about three years ago. It was in a barn, and was covered with all the stuff barn inhabitants are good at excreting. The bike appealed to me as it only had a little over 13,000 miles on it. I took it home and tore it down. Not a part on this bike is untouched. I went through (cleaned) the electrical system and replaced the battery. The brake masters and calipers were rebuilt using Harley parts. I replaced the rotors and pads, and added Goodridge brake lines. I had new Metzler ME 880 tires installed. I rebuilt the carburetor and tuned it. I installed a new Corbin seat. I did a good rattle can paint job as this bike was not going to be a show bike. The paint is a mat finish black. I installed all new control cables from Barnett. This bike was built to ride and be dependable as my son needed something to accompany me and my riding buddies on occasional rides. The FXR has about 15500 miles on it now and has never let me or my son down. I normally ride a bagger so when I get a chance to get on this FXR it's a blast to ride!

We wrote about the recall last week, after campaigns were initiated in Canada and Australia to address a problem with the fuel sensors not properly reading the correct volume of fuel. We now know the problem is caused by the angle of the fuel tank.

Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight and Roller Derby? [Video]

Thu, 10 Jun 2010

Canadian publication Cycle Canada had some fun on a photoshoot for its review of the Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight for the July issue. As Pete wrote in our own review, the Harley-Davidson Sportster Forty-Eight has a rugged, bobber-inspired look with its chopped fender, chubby front tire and underslung mirrors. For the guys over at Cycle Canada, the Forty-Eight conjured up a rather odd image: roller derby.
