Bobber Bobber description

Covington’s Cycle City
2008 Covington Custom Bobber
1st Titled in Texas 10/20/2014
Built by the legendary Jerry Covington!
This is one of the most beautiful and detailed motorcycle I have ever seen, let alone owned.
The history as best I can, and based on conversations with Jeff Covington himself is as follows:
• Sold in 2011 at Daytona Bike Week to local TX collector.
• After a few years in the collection, and no ridding time to speak of, needed to be checked out. The bike was sent back to Covington’s for tune up and general inspection.
• Jeff sent the bike to Accurate Engineering where Barry Wardlaw went through the motor. Forged internals etc. Jeff said that the motor was sparred none of his buddy’s skill sets on the motor, and consistently continues to use Accurate for its excellent results.

• In March of 2014, a friend of mine was able to acquire the bike.
• I bought the bike in October of 2014 with an approximate 96 miles.
• I rode the bike a couple of times, recorded miles etc., and then decided it needed a proper and thorough sorting out. It had barely been ridden.
• I took the bike to Ramon’s Precision Service 12/9/2014 – Carb tune, rods adjusted, flushed and all new fluids, and every nut checked. Bike rips!
• On 3/28/2015 rode to New Braunfels and was at the ‘Giddy Up’ show.
• Bike has had 436.6 miles put on it since I’ve owned it… and it rides excellent!
• Most would say not to ride it being so beautiful, but I just can’t resist!!

I have never been anywhere on this bike and not had people just stop and stare. It draws men and women alike, and is as fun as hell to ride.
It holds just a tad over 2 gallons, but will get to 100 miles if you can stay out of the throttle.

Jerry started building custom motorcycles (choppers) in the early seventies and founded Covington’s Cycle City in Woodward Oklahoma in 1993.
The attention to detail and quality is amazing, and the current condition of the bike is excellent. It looks as good as it did in the airing article, and is a featured bike in Barnett’s in 2007. See link below!
Jerry built this bike for his wife Kathleen who is an avid rider and huge part of their successful custom bike business. Check out what the guys who spent 6 months building thought of the bike, and why this was one of her favorites! It’s a great riding scooter with plenty of power. Smooth, a little firm… but killer bike!
This bike feature originally appeared in Barnett’s Magazine issue #58, October 2007.

Steve McQueen’s Von Dutch Customized Bikes to be Auctioned Tomorrow

Wed, 08 Jan 2014

Here’s an opportunity to own motorcycles associated with Steve McQueen and Von Dutch - need we say more? Get your credit cards out because tomorrow, January 9, 2014, will see a 1923 Indian Big Chief with Princess Sidecar owned by McQueen and fully restored by Von Dutch put on the auction block at the Bonhams Las Vegas Motorcycle Auction. Previously sold at the Steve McQueen Estate Sale in Las Vegas in 1984, the 74cu (1200cc) Indian is “capable of reaching speeds of 90mph.” If McQueen’s coolness factor isn’t enough, having the notoriety of Von Dutch’s restoration is the icing on the cake.

Named for Cole’s great-great-uncle, four-time British Prime Minister William Ewart Gladstone, the new firm will produce limited runs of hand-built bespoke motorcycles. The company’s first model will be the Gladstone No.
