BMW R-Series description
This bike was given to me by my brother in-law after he was no longer able to ride it after a back injury. It is in good condition but needs some TLC. Complete restore was done in the early 2000's by a previous owner, clean title, 49,700, miles. Has been sitting for a few years so the carburetors got gummed up and have recently been rebuilt. RUNS but needs the dual carbs to be tuned. No body damage. There is a scratch on the front fender and a cracked blinker lens. The tires have dry rot and there is no battery. We can start it with a battery charger so you can see/hear it run but like I said, the dual carbs need to be tuned. It kind of sputters a bit. Other than these small issues it is in great condition. Potential café racer?

EICMA 2012: BMW Motorrad Celebrates 90th Anniversary with Special Edition R1200GS, R1200R and R1200RT
Tue, 13 Nov 2012BMW announced it will introduce an all-new Boxer to celebrate its 90th year of motorcycle production, but you didn’t think the German manufacturer would stop there without a couple of other special edition models, did you? To mark the anniversary, BMW revealed special edition “90 Jahre BMW Motorrad” versions of its R1200GS adventure bike, R1200R roadster and R1200RT tourer in Milan at the 2012 EICMA Show. All three models come in a Sapphire Black Metallic color with matte black engines, gold anodized suspension and brakes, and asphalt gray metallic swingarms, trailing arms and rear frames, and granite gray metallic cylinder head covers, and a nickel-plated polished brass plate on the upper fork.

European Motorcycle Market Down 38% Since 2006
Wed, 25 Jan 2012New motorcycle registrations in Europe decreased 8.9% in 2011, reaching its lowest level in a decade. And with the state of the economy in Europe, things might get worse. According to provisional numbers released by the European Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers, Europeans registered 1.72 million motorcycles, scooters and mopeds in 2011, down from 1.89 million registrations in 2010.
