For the R 1200 GS, torque was given higher priority than output in line with practical considerations. And you can feel it. 120 Newton meters at the peak at 6,000 revolutions per minute is one thing, but the consistently higher level of torque in the relevant range up to 5,000 revolutions per minute can be fully experienced. The output has been increased to 81 kilowatts (110 brake horsepower) at 7,750 revolutions per minute. The supreme riding pleasure is underscored by a powerful sound from the new exhaust system with exhaust flap which will everyone will love. Together with the new paint finishes, a wide range of special equipment features such as the unique off-road ESA and ASC and extensive motorcycle fittings, there is virtually no situation in which the R 1200 GS doesn’t fit perfectly. WSBK 2013: Monza Race Report
Mon, 13 May 2013Eugene Laverty and Marco Melandri split a pair of victories at Monza but the most biggest news from the World Superbike weekend was a strange series of appeals after Race Two that saw Tom Sykes finish third, relegated to fourth and then reinstated on the final step of the podium. The unusual mix-up occurred after Sykes, sitting in third place, ran off track and into the run off area on Turn 5 on his final lap. The Kawasaki rider returned to the track again in third place where he finished ahead of Aprilia‘s Sylvain Guintoli.

Fri, 27 Apr 2012The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has officially announced the recall for the 2012 BMW S1000RR, providing more information about the problem. According to documents released by NHTSA, the bolts on the connecting rods in the BMW S1000RR may come loose because of an anti-corrosive agent applied to the bolts. The anti-corrosive agent may effect the bolt torque, potentially leading them to come loose, particularly at high temperatures or rpms.

We're ageing because less people are passing their bike test each year (roughly 30,000 last year compared to 50,000 for the 10 years before the new two-part test) and so not only is the pool not growing it's not even being replenished and so the average age isn't being diluted down by yoof. When the going gets tough in any situation, you really get to see who's got their shit-sorted and who's light enough on their feet to adapt to change.
