BMW Other description

After its introduction, the BMW K1200GT was named the Best Sport-Touring Bike by Cycle World. This high-powered touring motorcycle combines comfort, luxury and high performance. The K1200GT is powered by a smooth-running 1157cc, inline four-cylinder engine that produces 152 horsepower and 96 ft-lbs of torque. The engine is transverse-mounted on the frame and tilted forward to lower the bike's center of gravity, resulting in improved stability and handling. A six-speed gearbox and enclosed shaft drive make up the drivetrain. BMW's advanced EVO partial integral Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) controls the dual disc front brakes and single disc rear brake. Color-matched side cases are also standard with additional storage provided by an optional trunk. This 2008 Adventurin Silver Metallic K1200GT is equipped with the optional Heated Grips and Heated Seats, plus Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA) and Automatic Stability Control (ASC). Fresh service has been performed at Lone Star BMW. This motorcycle has scratches on the right side from a garage spill.

New: BMW System 6 Evo helmet

Fri, 12 Apr 2013

BMW has released the new System 6 Evo flip-front helmet.  It retains the clean lines of the System 6, while increasing levels of comfort and practicality with a more scratch-resistant internal sun visor, a more robust visor mechanism designed to make operation with gloved hands easier, improved ventilation control on the chin, and a revised spoiler for better aerodynamics. BMW says it has a unique chin bar pivot which reduces the size of the helmet when the chin bar is upright. Weighing in at 1.57kg, the ECE 22-05 homologated Evo is a quiet lid, with noise levels registering at 84-86 dBA at 62 mph. The helmet comes ready for installation of the BMW Communication system, offering a Bluetooth connection to the BMW Navigator IV sat-nav, music players, mobile phones and other BMW helmets.

BMW‘s most important model reached an important milestone as the 500,000th boxer-engined GS rolled off the company’s production line in Berlin, Germany. The landmark liquid-cooled 2014 R1200GS follows a lineage half a million strong of flat-twin adventure tourers tracing back to the first R80G/S produced in 1980. “As a plant it is a privilege for us to continue building on the successful history of the legendary flat-twin GS,” says Marc Sielemann, head of the Berlin plant which produces the bulk of BMW’s motorcycles since 1969.
