Tested: Metzeler Sportec M5 Interact

Mon, 15 Mar 2010

With its clever Interact technology Metzeler has created a tyre that has a varying carcass construction to alter how the rubber performs. Without going too deeply the M5 consists of five bands of belting that vary in stiffness. At the outer edges of the tyre the carcass is quite flexible, allowing the rubber to move around and generate more heat and therefore grip, while nearer the tyre’s centre the carcass is stiffer, reducing the rubber’s movement and decreasing its wear.

FIM to Revise WSBK Homologation Requirements

Fri, 17 Jan 2014

The International Motorcycling Federation is considering modifying its homologation requirements for the World Superbike Championship following Bimota‘s somewhat surprising plans to re-enter the series. Under current regulations, manufacturers must produce a minimum number of motorcycles for it to be eligible to compete in the production-based WSBK championship. The official regulations currently require a minimum of 125 units produced for an initial homologation inspection, 500 units produced by June 30 of the current year, 1,000 units by the end of the current year and 2,000 units by the end of the following year.

Ritmo Sereno is a Japanese motorcycle customiser specializeing in BMW and Moto Guzzi custom motorcycles. One of the greatest bikes created by them, shown to the public last year, is this BMW R100RS finished in official Bayerishe Motorwerke livery. The original bike, that was considered in the past like a sort of modern hypersport, received some radical changes that have updated the boxer powered motorcycle. It features new rims, so modern tyres can be used, a new exhaust system (2 into 1), the classic Ohlins fork with dark colour finish and the rear shock is Ohlins too.
