1945 U.S. Navy Harley Davidson War Relic Info

One of only 217 manufactured in 1945 for the U.S. Navy during WWII. This is a Military Model "US" 74 cu. in. Flathead. A rare opportunity and investment to have a U45.

The motors VIN was traced back to U.S. Navy Seaman, Gerry Bellows from Milwaukee, Wisconsin who rescued it back in 1979 when ported at Subic Bay US Naval Station Reeves, CG-24 Guided Missile Cruiser. Subic Bay Naval Station was also active in early 1945.
I have more detailed information directly from Gerry for the new buyer, if interested.

Motor: The un=altered VIN is 45U2020 with a clean Wisconsin Title in my name, recognized and registered by the State of Wisconsin as a Historic Military Vehicle as the numbers are 45-1926. The casting code is "l4" (Nov. 1944) on both crankcases. Original cylinders at .070 over with the correct original low compression cast iron head Judge Don Dzurich following Bruce Palmers Military books. I have the receipts. Has original; Flywheels, Rods, Cams, Tappets, Valve covers, Timer (still running point), M-41 with nitrophyl float, Manifold (with PEEK seals) and oil pressure sending unit. Old case repair by timing plug (see pictures), no issues with it. 2,397 Miles (3857 kilometers).

Here's a link of it running on YouTube from the owner i purchased it from https://youtu.be/DLJpao5Eq_0

Gear Box; The casting code is also "L4" on the main case and also gone thru by Don Dzurich. It is in the correct, oringal configuration of 3 Speed with REVERSE. Showing Olive Drab pain on its case per Bruce Palmers book for late WWII US Navy Big Twins as further evidence it was military. I have a picture if interested.  Original military.

Older reproduction frame is correct '41-'46 with 29° neck. Correct Paint used is late WWII lusterless Navy Grey 36173 from Rapco Paint Co. Entire from Fork is original. Correct original Handlebars and military steel front bake lever. Correct original gas tanks with correct original 3-speed with reverse Shift gate, lever and shift knob.
