Superbly renovated bike by renown British bike restorer Paul Ackerman of Tenants Harbor Maine.
Meticulously restored. 401 miles. This bike is a fun ride. Starts on first kick. Could be ridden, or could be museum piece. I bought the bike on eBay in August 2014 for $4950. Here's the text from the original ad: 1970
TRIUMPH T100C TROPHY 500cc Motorcycle with matching numbers. Only 9,035
original miles! It is truly RARE to find one of these that has not been ruined
by 44 years of neglect and do-it-yorself wrenching! The original owner
purchased directly from factory and used it a few times. He owned it for 25
years and garage stored it. The owner before me did not want to restore it but,
used all original parts, cleaned it up, replaced what needed replacing and
repainted what needed repainting. He used it seldomly and garage kept it as I
have done. I purchased it 8 years ago, occassionally ride around town, and put
less than 100 miles on it. I have kept it in a garage as has been the
case for this bike's entire lifetime. This is one of those unusual, happy Triumphs
that starts right up - usually on the first try! Doesn't smoke. Doesn't
leak. Idles like it is supposed to. With the tuned slash-cut high pipes
and the Jacaranda purple tank, it's a real head turner. This is the year and
Model that most desire as the following year required turn signals and the
chassis was changed shortly thereafter. I rode the bike a bit and it did not live up to the original 'as advertized' description. So I took it to Paul. Here's what he did. Quoted from Paul: Triumph T100C I have tried to cover the important details here, and have gone thru all my daily notes to identify what was being done, and if anything unusual was noted. Clearly the Triumph was a project bike to start with, and the work needed reflects that. 1970 Triumph TlOOC #DD 47684- dropped off here in October 2014 for evaluation, and subsequent repairs thru 2015. First phase of repair work was to simply make the engine run and idle. Looking over the bike it was apparent that there were many systems that needed attention to achieve this reasonably and safely, as well as some parts obviously missing or replaced with wrong parts. Beginning
with the fuel system, and then working into electrics, primary drive components,
and finally to running gear / suspension / tires / brakes, any components needing
replacement or repair were dealt with in sequence. Some items were simply not even there to begin
with, and as such the correct parts were installed. Changes were requested to exhaust system, tires, and suspension in the course of repairs. After initial repairs and delivery, the subsequent issue of smoking in the exhaust and oil usage required another pick-up and further examination/repairs. It was noted that the top end is worn and will eventually require overhaul if the oil consumption does not abate with the new oil pump.
