Naked BMW S1000RR Spotted Testing in Italy – Video

Italian site Motociclismo.it has published a video of what appears to be a naked version of the BMW S1000RR being tested on public roads in Rovereto, Italy. The test model was dressed in camouflage and appears to be close to being ready for production, especially compared to the earlier prototype spotted testing last summer. We expect BMW will officially unveil this S1000RR-based streetfighter at either the Intermot show in Cologne, Germany, or the EICMA show in Milan, Italy, later this fall.

The still image above provides a look at the pre-production model’s profile, revealing a raised windscreen over a protruding headlight assembly. Speaking of the headlights, the naked version shares the S1000RR’s asymmetric headlight design with one round light beside an oblong, polygonal light.

The tail and swingarm also appear to be similar to those on the S1000RR. Based on the rider’s knee bend, the footpegs appear to be in the same position as on the S1000RR, but the handlebars are higher than the low clip-ons on the faired version.

The person who captured these images tells Motociclismo.it there were actually two different test units, one with a stock-looking exhaust and another sporting the accessory Akropovic exhaust available for the S1000RR.
