KTM X-Bow GT Unveiled at 2013 Geneva Motor Show

Tue, 05 Mar 2013

KTM is best known for its off-road motorcycles, but how can we forget the exotic X-Bow sports car? The Austrian manufacturer has now introduced a new version of the X-Bow at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. The KTM X-Bow GT adds a number of new features that make it a bit more street-worthy.

Featuring a new windshield, windows, doors, a removable soft-top roof and 50 liter storage area, the GT is a more practical version of the X-Bow. But let’s not kid ourselves here. It’s still got a carbon monocoque body, racing seats, racing restraints,  and a turbocharged 2.0-liter Inline-four Audi engine claiming 281 hp at 6400 rpm and 310 ft-lb. of torque at 3200 rpm just like the KTM X-Bow R.

The windshield and the side windows wrap around the cockpit in a frameless curving design resembling the helmet visor. The GT’s side windows are actually also its doors, with hinges mounted on the slender A-pillers while the locking mechanism is directly attached to the monocoque body. The windshield is made of laminated safety glass and come with wipers  and integrated heating wire for defrosting.

The KTM X-Bow GT is available for order now in Europe, at a price of 72,500 euros (US$94,600). No word yet whether the KTM X-Bow GT will be street-legal for North America.
