A Hero’s Thanksgiving Homecoming

Thu, 27 Nov 2008

U.S. Army Spc. Michael Alcorn received a hero’s welcome from friends and family members last night at his home in Medford, PA. The 21-year-old served in Iraq for the past 15 months as a door gunner on a CH-47 Chinook Helicopter. He flew into Philadelphia last night from Germany, and was accompanied home by Warriors’ Watch Riders, a motorcycle group that escorts returning soldiers to their homes.

Warriors’ Watch Riders is a motorcycle-mounted Troop Support group. They exist to support troops (both past and present) as well as their families. Warriors’ Watch will provide motorcycle escorts for military personnel deploying or returning from war. Warrior’s Watch works very closely with “A Hero’s Welcome,” and provides a motorcycle escort component when they require it.

“I don’t even know what to say about this. This is incredible,” Alcorn said after the crowd gathered outside of his home chanted, “USA! USA!” The Alcorn family has many reasons to be thankful this year on Thanksgiving Day, but having their son get home safely for the holidays undoubtedly stands out above all the rest.
