Up for sale 1974 Norton with a little over 2,000 original miles. I purchased the bike from the original owner after it won first place for best restored motorcycle at the 2007 Detroit Autorama in it's first showing. The first owner bought the bike new in 1976, took it home with 8.5 factory test miles on it and parked it in his collection. In 2006 he decided to ride it for the first time. He converted it from a high rider to a roadster using aluminum tank and side covers fabricated by the master Evan Wilcox and fitting a Corbin seat. The front brake was updated and Boyer ignition replaced the points. Any perished parts were replaced with OEM Norton parts if possible. MK III isolastics were installed and stainless fasteners were used in critical areas. Within a few months he became ill and passed away never having ridden it.
I was the first person to register it for road use when it arrived in California. A Norton factory trained mechanic went thru the bike for a second time and made some changes that he recommended. He changed out the counter sprocket for a 19 verse the original 20, put in a Barnett clutch, heim head steady, Fiamm horns, roadster style headlight, new exhaust pipes and mufflers, and a covenant fork upgrade. All the original parts: bronze clutch plates, high rider headlight, turn signals, choke and cables, head steady, air box, horn, cross over pipes, mufflers,and roadster seat have never been used and will come with the bike as well as the owners manual, tool kit, a tank bag with tire tube, spark plugs, extra Boyer ready to go and electric air pump.All parts to bring back to factory set up are here. It still has the break in instruction sticker on the speedo. I have included pictures of how it looked when purchased and photos of how it is set up currently. The bike has always been stored inside and has never even had water used to clean it. It has never been in the rain either. I wipe it down and polish it. Show it, ride it, or both. I chose to ride it on a limited basis and the rest of the time I just like to sit and stare at it. All documentation, original bill of sale from 1976 dealer purchase, verification of history, all work orders and parts lists from both top notch mechanics will come with the bike. I have owned Norton's since 1971 but at my age it's time to surround myself with four wheels and lots of air bags on twisty roads Bid with complete confidence. Norton Signs Cameron Donald to Race Isle of Man TT
Thu, 20 Mar 2014Norton Motorcycles has signed two-time TT winner Cameron Donald to a three-year contract to race in the Isle of Man TT. Donald will ride the Norton SG3 sportbike in the Dainese Superbike and PokerStars Senior TT classes, starting both races seeded 19th. That matches the number of the late Steve Hislop, the last Norton rider to win on the Isle of Man with a victory in the 1992 Senior TT race.
Bonhams Auctions 1966 Norton Manx For $100K
Tue, 22 Oct 2013The top selling model of Bonhams annual sale of collectors’ motorcycles, a 1966 Norton 350cc Manx prepared by legendary tuner Francis Beart and raced by Joe Dunphy and Keith Heckles, fetched a whopping $100,481 last Sunday. The auction price more than doubled the top selling estimate and set a new world record for a Manx sold at auction. Eighty percent of the 436 lots offered sold at the auction totaling $2,168,314 Hot on its heels came the technological marvel from an earlier era that produced the sale’s best result when the 250cc Moto Morini Grand Prix racer from the 1960s fetched $145,081. The Molnar Norton Manx, prepared and entered by Fred Walmsley for the late World Champion Barry Sheene, sold for $89,490.
