Kawasaki kz1000 Z1-R description

1978 Kawasaki kz1000 Z1-R/ full restoration

Thank you for viewing my fully-restored 1978 Kawasaki Z1-R!  Matching numbers bike that was completed first quarter 2015 with 150 smooth miles logged since completion.

Frame off, sandblasted and powder coated frame, swing arm, shock springs, motor mounts, foot peg mounts, kick stand and tail light bracket.  Upper & lower forks rebuilt with new seals, oil, and dust shields.  New tires and inner tubes, sealed battery, headlight, wiring harness, clutch & throttle cables, tack & speedo cables.  Bead blasted cases, cylinder head and high temp repainted.  Original petcock serviced with repair kit, and original carb set rebuilt.  New piston rings and cylinders honed.  Original body work repainted with NOS side cover and tank badge emblems with exact match paint to original from WI custom provider.  NOS period MC header arguably better looking than original with excellent tone.  All significant and miscellaneous parts either powder coated, chromed or zinc plated.

This is an exceptional restoration with attention to all detail.  Responsive and flawless runner.  Mileage logged to keep it active and it will only get better with use.

If not familiar, this is a limited and/ essentially a one-year/ production model from Kawasaki.  OEM parts are hard-to-come by and expensive, and there are few reproduction parts much less NOS parts. You will find this example true to original and listed with a fair reserve.

Thank you for viewing my listing and good luck bidding!

The problem is, I come from a long line of, erm, frugal Yorkshire b####rds going back generations, and I seem to be hardwired as a bit of a skinflint. My dad, although never actually short of money, that I could remember, didn’t like spending it.
