Honda CB description

Up for bids and sold to the highest bidder is this 1975 Honda CB550K Four. K1. Only 15k original miles. 99% original. The original Flake Sunrise Orange paint in this scheme was only available in 1975. This machine was a barn find prior to my acquisition. There is surface rust around the edges all over. The bike looks good from 20 feet but has surface rust as seen. Some people call it patina. The surface rust is only aesthetic and does not affect operation. Would benefit greatly from a detail and clean up. The carburetors were rebuilt and synced. New period correct battery(made in japan). The bike starts right up with electric or kick start. Engine runs good. No leaks or smoke. The bike rides nice. Shifts through the gears smoothly. The brakes stop but the front drags sometimes. Has aftermarket master cylinder but original is included(needs rebuilt).  The wheels have pitting rust as seen. The fenders are uncut and also have some surface rust on edges. The original exhaust looks presentable but has surface rust and staining as seen. There are no holes and the exhaust sounds nice. Both gauges work. The dials have alligatoring as seen which is common for this model. Does not affect operation. The turn signals and horn work.  The oil light and turn signal indicator lights on the dash work. The neutral and high beam do not(maybe bulb). The headlight tail light and brake light work. The gas tank has no egregious dents or damage. Some fading, small dents and scratches. Someone has coated the inside and spilled coating on exterior as seen. The seat looks nice and is a recover from the 80s. The rear grab rail is painted black. Other than that it appears all original. The tires hold air with decent tread but they are old. Has clear Ohio title.

Honda To Build All-Green Test Track For E-Bikes And Cars

Mon, 19 Aug 2013

Honda has been making motions about its intentions to enter the electric motorcycle market with the RC-E concept bike and the Mugen Shinden Ni electric race bike (pictured above). Those plans are further bolstered by the news Honda will be constructing a test track dedicated entirely to the development of electric motorcycles and cars. Building an entirely new test track requires a massive amount of  resources, and Honda intends to make this project 100% self-sustainable by using 70,000 solar panels, spread out over 33 hectares, with the track and remaining facilities taking up another 25 hectares.

Honda announced it will enter a works team in the 2013 Dakar Rally‘s motorcycle class, returning to the event for the first time in 23 years. The Japanese manufacturer competed in the Rally from 1981 to 1989 when it was known as the Paris-Dakar Rally. Honda won five times during that period but then stopped entering its own team.

USA Four Corners Tour Tracked On Google Earth

Tue, 21 May 2013

Ain’t technology amazing? In 2010, Bill Royal and his friend Larry, both members of the Iron Butt Association, decided to take part in the USA Four Corners Tour, sanctioned by the Southern California Motorcycling Association. He logged the trip on his GPS and later uploaded it to Google Earth.
