Hodaka Ace 100 description

I bought this bike from an old timer Hodaka lover that had gotten too old to ride the bike and it wasn't being used enough. It had old cracked tires on it. I replaced both the tubes and the tires with brand new. Replaced the both front and rear brake shoes with slotted EBC shoes. I also rebuilt the forks using complete new fork tube replacements and new fork seals with fresh fork oil. I just went through the carburetor and cleaned it and dialed the float height back a bit as it was set to let too much fuel in. Bike starts easily and runs great. 150 pounds of compression. Healthy top end. Engine number is P20917. It's a two stroke and the oil mix is 20:1 quite heavy on the oil. The bike is an original survivor that has not been restored. I hope it finds an owner who appreciates that and leaves it alone. It does have a newer seat cover that an upholsterer did and it is not the factory cover. Factory replica seat covers are available for about 60 bucks. It also has a uni pod air filter rather than the original old metal can filter with paper element. These can be had on ebay if you watch often. The tank is completely dent free and is clean inside virgin with no liner and absolutely zero rust. There are no issues with the bike. It's only original once!!  I also just bought a new DID chain for the smaller rear drive sprocket should you want to ride on that one. I have the factory original service manual for this bike with the supplement that was printed in 1968. It's a very cool book with illustrations etc. This bike is a 5 speed shift and the pattern is 1 up 4 down. This is a solid bike needing nothing but a rider who knows 2 strokes and hodakas. No title you will have to simply apply for one at dmv if you wanted to register. Also not running a battery at the moment but one could easily be added if you wish.  The lighting is running off of stator currently. Any questions just ask. Price is firm. I am into more than this for the bike and recent new parts alone. Need space to breathe in my shop and it's unfortunately not getting used as much as we had planned. It was to be our camping bike but we don't have the time to get out and space is tight. Lovely bay area. Too many motorbikes one has to go.

A Different Bike Magazine

Thu, 12 Feb 2009

Motorcycle Retro is a pet project of former Motorcyclist editor Mitch Boehm, launching as Motorcyclist Retro in early 2008 under the Source Interlink media umbrella. It featured a contemporary look at motorcycles of the 1960s through the 1980s. However, the circulation numbers of MR didn’t meet the expectations of the media conglomerate, and they cancelled production of the magazine after just two issues.
