Harley-Davidson Reports Q2 2014 Sales Results

Harley-Davidson reported a net income of $354.2 million over the second quarter of 2014, thanks to a 12.4% increase in sales revenue. Actual motorcycle sales volume stayed about even, however, with unit sales increasing to just 90,218 motorcycles from 90,193 sold in the same quarter last year. Though sales were statistically the same as they were last year, Harley-Davidson generated $1.48 billion in revenue from motorcycle sales alone, up 16.2% from the $1.27 billion reported in the second quarter of 2013.

It’s only been a couple of weeks since Harley-Davidson broke new ground by unveiling new “Twin-Cooled” liquid precision-cooling engine technology its new Project Rushmore suite of customer-driven refinements, but the Motor Company appears to have even more ambitious plans in the works. Speaking at Harley-Davidson’s 110th anniversary celebrations, Chief Operating Officer Matthew Levatich confirmed the company is producing a new 500cc model and opened the possibility of an electric Harley-Davidson somewhere down the line. Owner of Tsunami-Tossed Harley-Davidson Found in Japan

Harley-Davidson representatives in Japan have identified the owner of the motorcycle lost in last year’s tsunami but later found on a remote beach in Canada. The 29-year-old owner, Ikuo Yokoyama, lives in Yamamoto, Japan, in Miyagi Prefecture, the region hardest hit by the 2011 Japanese earthquake and tsunami. Yokoyama survived the disaster but lost three family members and is still living in temporary accommodations.
