Memorial Hall is a 3,500-seat indoor arena located in Kansas City. This show took place on The Eagles 1973 tour in support of their second album "Desperado". Released in the spring, the album carried an Old West outlaw theme, comparing their lifestyles to the lifestyles of modern rock stars. Typically included in their sets on this tour were the songs "Witchy Woman", "Peaceful Easy Feeling", "Chug All Night" and "Take It Easy".
It was during the recording of the album that Don Henley and Glenn Frey began writing with each other. They co-wrote eight of the album's eleven songs including the classic songs "Tequila Sunrise" and "Desperado". The pair began to dominate the band in terms of leadership and songwriting, turning the focus of the band away from Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner.
NOTE: Although the title track, "Desperado" is one of the Eagles' signature songs and was included on their first greatest hits compilation, it was never released as a single.
