Further cleanout of surplus vintage cars, motorcycles and parts: This is a no reserve auction and the Rokon will be sold regardless of price, on or off auction. This particular auction is for an authentic, original survivor, matching numbers 1973 Rokon 340RT Enduro motorcycle as shown. I would describe the condition as museum quality. It comes with the original 1973 Georgia title, original owners manual, original tool kit. I am the 2nd owner - it was purchased new by an old friend who willed it to me when he passed away and I have kept it stored unused in a climate controlled facility for the past 20 years. It is probably the best and lowest mileage Rokon anywhere. The odometer shows 4 miles but have no way of substantiating that. It may be correct and may not. If not it is certainly low mileage because there is absolutely zero wear on the foot pegs and other wear areas. It probably has been pushed around from place to place more than it has been ridden. When I got it I disassembled it and had the frame powder coated to the tune of $1000 - thought it would preserve the bike for a long time, forgetting the fact that I wouldn't be around that long (am 75 now). In reassembly everything was only cleaned - it did not need restoration. One item was replaced and that is the black leather tool bag. The original one was dried up and falling apart so a new one was professionally made using the old pieces for patterns. Same type thick saddlebag leather and rivets were used. Includes the original VDO odometer, magnified stop watch holder and magnified roll chart holder. Everything works. It starts, runs, stops just fine. Tires are the old originals and are age checked/cracked - not good for real riding but good for show. Way too fast for me. Serial number RT340170, making it the 170th one off the line. These bikes will be premium collector items in the future because of their American pedigree. The Rokon is the only Enduro bike ever made in the United States - (New Hampshire). They also made motocrossers and short trackers. Top quality and low low production. I will answer all email questions. Rokon RT340 - a motorcycle ahead of it's time. Specifications in 1973: Weight - 250. Engine - German Sachs 335cc 2 stroke piston port engine. Compression ratio 13:1. 37 Horsepower. Magneto ignition. Mikuni VM36SC carburetion. Transmission - Automatic torque converter - infinitely variable. Betor suspension front and rear. Cast alloy 18" and 19" wheels. American Kelsey Hayes hydraulic disc brakes front and rear - 11 inch diameter. 40 watt alternator with voltage regulator. 3.25 gallon fuel tank. PAPERWORK: Original 1973 Georgia title will go with the motorcycle. PAYMENT/BIDDING/SHIPPING: CONTACT ME if you have less than 5 feedbacks or your bid will be cancelled. A $500 non refundable deposit via Paypal is due immediately after the auction closes. The balance is due within 3 days via wire transfer or a bank cashiers check. Full payment is to be made IN ADVANCE of collecting the bike. IN ADVANCE, BEFORE YOU COLLECT THE BIKE - This is an auction and you have plenty of time to inspect it personally or have a 3rd party inspect it - inspections are welcome and encouraged. Winning the auction does not mean that you now have the privilege of coming to inspect the bike to see if you like it. When the auction is over, it is your bike and payment is due at the close of the auction per these instructions. The bike is in a secure place at my home and can be left here for up to 60 days at no charge before collection. After that I have the option of charging a storage fee. I have shipped many cars and motorcycles to all parts of the world over the years and can assist the buyer with transport or completely arrange transport at the buyers expense. Aprilia SR Max Touring Scooter Unveiled
Wed, 22 Jun 2011Aprilia has unveiled a new touring scooter, the Aprilia SR Max, available in 125cc and 300cc configurations. Okay, perhaps “new” isn’t the right word for it, as the SR Max is a rebadged version of the Nexus from Aprilia’s Piaggo Group stablemate, Gilera. It’s also not clear if Aprilia will import the SR Max to North America, but the scooter is more likely to pop up here, where Aprilia already offers the SR 50 scooter, with its new name, than it would as a Gilera.
Aprilia will present a new sportbike this autumn
Thu, 04 Apr 2019The company confirmed to the French publication Moto-Station that such a significant event will take place in the autumn at the EICMA Milan show. However, the final look of the motorcycle remains a mystery. Judging by the not too legible photo of the prototype that was recently caught on camera during tests, there will still be a difference between the exhibition and the road copy.
WSBK 2013: Laguna Seca Race Report
Mon, 30 Sep 2013Tom Sykes and Eugene Laverty each came away with a victory as the World Superbike Championship made its return to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The first race featured two red flags, ironically caused by AMA Superbike regulars Danny Eslick and Roger Hayden, the two men with the most recent experience at the famed track. The second race was a much cleaner affair, with a dramatic finish, setting up the final two rounds of the championship.
