Hopefully a 12-year old is looking at this 2014 Aprilia RSV4 SBK wide-eyed, with his jaw on the floor in the same way I looked at Fogarty's 1994 Ducati 916 SBK twenty (shit, I feel old) years ago and the feelings he gets from seeing that Aprilia will spur him on to become a biker! I could look at that for hours, it's a work of art.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration finally released information about the upcoming Aprilia RSV4 engine recall, and just as we suspected here at Motorcycle.com, the culprit was a faulty batch of connecting rods. Yes, the same conrods that curtailed the RSV4R’s European launch, attended by our correspondent Tor Sagen. That October media event at the world-class Mugello circuit was halted after five, count’em, FIVE engines blew.

When he signed with the team, Eugene Laverty said he would give all he possibly could to bring Suzuki back to the top of the podium once again. Well, it sure didn’t take the Northern Irishman long to accomplish that goal, winning the very first race of the 2014 season at Australia’s Phillip Island course. The win was Laverty’s third in a row, including the final two races of the 2013 season when he raced for Aprilia.
