Speed Triple gets mean

Fri, 29 Oct 2010

I headed up the M1 this week to the Triumph Factory in Hinckley. The Speed Triple was due its 12000 mile major service and the workshop also had some new shiny bits to add to the bike for me.

Service intervals are every 6000 miles which is more than bearable but the major service will cost you around £450. For that you get all the fluids changed, break pads, filters, plugs all replaced but the main cost comes from the extra labour. They check the valve clearances and just about every other part of the bike that moves. The end result is the Triple feels fresh, sharp and lean once again.

With the addition of a colour matched belly pan (£166) and finally a street fighter bar end mirror (£64) the bike looks more complete now. I always felt the Belly pan would tie everything in together and I’m not at all disappointed with the look….even if it is the smallest belly pan I’ve ever seen.

The Mirror actually works too which is helpful, if not a tad surprising. Taking off the standard mirrors has made a massive difference to front end of the bike, its really opened things up and made things feel ‘proper street fighter like’

What have you done with your Speed Triple? anything you would do to mine to improve it?
