FIM Pledges Support of MotoAmerica

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

Today, MotoAmerica, the new North American roadracing series under development by the KRAVE Group, LLC, took another important step towards racing reality. With the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), the official governing and sanctioning body for international motorcycle racing across the globe, giving its blessing to the rapidly developing national racing series set to replace the troubled AMA Superbike series after the disastrous years under Daytona Motorsports Group’s management.

The announcement of support for MotoAmerica from the FIM came from none other than FIM president, Vito Ippolito, whose statement said, ““We are very excited about the potential of the new MotoAmerica road racing series. American motorcycle racing has always been important to the FIM, and we are proud to be a part of the MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North American Motorcycle Road Racing Championship.”

While the FIM’s support of MotoAmerica comes as no real surprise, given the relationship that former world champion Wayne Rainey has with the sanctioning body, the release is good news nonetheless and marks progress towards the creation of the series for the 2015 season.

In his comment on the endorsement, Rainey said, “The FIM is the premier governing body for motorcycle racing worldwide. MotoAmerica and everyone at the KRAVE Group LLC are honored to have the endorsement of Mr. Ippolito and the FIM. This FIM support will allow our series to become a recognized member of the international motorcycle racing community, paving the way for our riders to make the transition to international road racing championships like World Superbike and MotoGP in the future.”
