1993 Yamaha YZF750SP

On Display at the New England Motorcycle Museum Today, Come & See!
Title in Hand on this Rare Classic!

A True to Life Limited Edition Classic Factory Superbike!

Very Rare Pink and White 100% Original

This model was especially produced so that Yamaha could race on a bike based off of this chassis in the World Superbike Championship!

Mechanically the later SP differed from the R in the following areas: adjustable Swingarm pivot position, 39 mm Keihin FCR flat slide carburetors, a lower screen, a removable rear sub frame and a single seat. The primary drive, gear box and final drive ratios are different on the SP. The rear suspension unit is different and vastly improved for the earlier SP

It is must have to complete a Yamaha Superbike collection.

The suspension is fully adjustable, but, as usual, it's the extra quality of damping, rather than quantity of adjustment, which makes the difference — the SP transmits every snippet of road surface information to the rider without getting upset over bumps and ripples, and without the standard bike's compromise springing and damping which can get you into trouble if you push it hard. The stiffer rear spring also means it isn't as prone to squat its rear end and drag its pegs and exhaust on the deck when you make a quick direction change and put the power down early

Here is what Pete had to say about this bike:

The Yamaha YZF750 is a motorcycle that was produced from 1993 to 1998 in two forms, the standard R and the homologation model single seat SP. The 750R was the only version sold in the US. The rear suspension unit is different and vastly improved for the earlier SP however the R from 1996 also had the Ohlins rear shock. The SP was the homologation model of the Yamaha YZF750 for the World Superbike Championship before the rules changed to allow 1000cc bikes. This bike came to Superbike Universe from a friend out on the west coast who imported it from Canada in the early 90's. It's in great condition. The bodywork is exceptionally clean. It has about 7k miles on it. now. It has been in my museum for several years now and will need a complete refreshing of all consumables. It is must have to complete a Yamaha Superbike collection.

Suzuka Eight Hour capers

Mon, 05 Sep 2011

Chatting to TT legend John McGuiness recently about his first Suzuka Eight Hour experience got me thinking of a few capers the boys and me managed a few years back at what is still Japan's most important race of the season. It is a unique event that starts at 11am and finishes at 7pm making  it a pukka endurance race as the last hour is run with headlights on in the dark. It is essentially an eight hour sprint that showcases the trickest endurance machinery and manufacturer’s sales can be affected the following year depending on who wins or loses.

Yamaha Canada Cuts Prices to Move Closer to US Pricing

Tue, 27 Dec 2011

As a Canadian, I’ve gotten used to accepting a lot of differences between Canada and the United States. It’s colder up here. The taxes are higher.

The Diavel rocks!

Thu, 21 Jul 2011

The Diavel is my new bike of the year. Not being a huge Ducati fan, when I was thrown the keys of this monster at Silverstone on Tuesday I was expecting an ill handling, weighty beast that would run out of revs and scare me to death. Well I couldn’t have been more wrong as I had an absolute blast.
